How to Get Motivated & Workout from Home

Since all gyms have shut down, it’s time to exercise your brains and get creative on how we can bring the gym into our homes. We weren’t given much time to prepare, so many of us might not have the equipment that we were used to. I’ve got good news! You can still achieve results with NO equipment. Truly all you need is yourself and a little motivation. Here are some tips on how to start if you are feeling a little overwhelmed or you don’t know where to start.

1) Choose Your Inspiration: Determine your what. What is it that you want to improve on or get good at? Write it down. Put it on the fridge. Make sure that you can see it every day. Our minds are constantly creating our reality. Keeping this “what” in plain sight will help you manifest your goals.

2) Start Small & Set a Goal: Now establish your how. How are you going to achieve your what? Set a SMART goal:






You want to start small to see early wins. This will encourage long-term consistency.

Ex: I want to lose 5 pounds in 1 month by exercising 3 times a week for 20 minutes to stay fit and healthy during this pandemic. 

3) Expect Setbacks: No, this is not to instill low expectations it’s to set yourself up for success. Be realistic. Sometimes the workout isn’t generating desired results. Sometimes you skip a day or three. Sometimes you don’t have the energy. Sometimes you just need to rest. Just keep moving forward. Don’t dwell on the past and try something different. You are permitted to change your goal or your workout routine. Ask yourself what is easy/hard for me and adjust accordingly. It’s called a small pivot in the right direction for YOU. Stay positive. You’ve got this!
